New Postcard Sets

In preparation for the upcoming holiday season I've updated the postcards sets in my shop. This is always fun for me as I enjoy thinking about what themes run throughout my work and what sets I can create around those themes.
This year I have created the Enigma Set, above. This set is all about mystery and wonder, I love all of those images and I can just see them framed on a wall together!

I've also updated my Deer Set with some new images,

I've created a Butterfly Set, which really was fun to put together as I got to chose some of my absolute favorites out of all of my butterfly pieces,

I updated my Bird Set with some new images,

and as always there is my Lotus Set, one of my favorites, this set makes me feel so calm and happy.

For even more variety I'm also offering a collection of all 30 of my postcards in one complete set, featuring one of each of these cards,

And, in case any of the postcard sets are calling to you...until Halloween Day next Monday the 31st, please enjoy 15% off of anything in my shop using code AUTUMNLIGHT.
With all of these new sets and calendars in the shop I'm feeling a give-away coming on soon... stay tuned.

So fun to make mandalas when I really should be packing....6 days to go, aaaahhh!

Universe

Universe

"Everything that exists, has existed and will exist. The totality of everything that exists."

For the past two weeks, leading up to our big party, I have been finishing up a new group of 5 paintings. It felt so good to be in the studio doing focused work while everything else surrounding our move feels like it is swirling around me, I just closed the door to my studio and started painting! I'm really excited to share this new work with you, and I'll be adding prints to my shop over the next few days.
My favorite part about this new painting is the tiny moment of this little golden star,

Spring Catalog

My work is featured on a few pages of the Spring 2011 Lovely Clusters Catalog, each page is full of juicy candy colored collection grouped by theme. You can check out the whole catalog here, its worth a peak, especially on a gray April week. That photo of Venice on the multicolored page has me day dreaming. I'm just waiting for all of the lovely May flowers we will have after so much rain!

Angel

Angel

I just finished this new painting, Angel. Each time I complete a painting I feel like I've had a love affair with it through the work, I stare at it and remember the application of each layer, each mark, the planning of each drip. I find every excuse to step into the studio for one more quick glance, or a long gaze. I am particularly happy with how the washes in the environment of this piece turned out. I wanted it to feel very light and airy yet to have a palpable weight to the space and I feel like I got there with it in all of the layers. I am especially happy with the black washes on the big butterfly/moth, they turned out exactly as I envisioned them in my mind's eye.

This week Frank and I have been working hard on space clearing in our big studio space. We have been doing the difficult work of sorting through years of our paintings and drawings, while deciding what we need to hold onto, and move with us, and what it is time to let go of. We are enjoying the lightness that comes with making space, while there is still much work to be done! I'll post some pictures of our big clear out soon.

I've also been missing my "Painting of the Week" postings, so I've decided to bring those back, this is the first one.
Cheers!

New Light

New Light, acrylic and mixed media on canvas

I've been busy working on a whole bunch of new originals in the studio. I just finished this one and have added her to my shop, here

The glow of early autumn and the delicate nuances of new light were the inspiration for this whimsical mixed media painting.
The gentle deer bends to nibble on a blade of grass, an unguarded moment, the soft beating of butterfly wings rustle the air.

I have been really enjoying drawing with ink on a few of the paintings in progress and I fell in love with this little doe. The painting just felt like it needed the simplicity of the relationship between the butterflies and the deer, when I work on a painting this simple I feel an internal quiet as well. My soul calms, my spirit rests....and that enters into the painting.
Whisper, or you might startle her.
Sending you calm. Sending you rest.

Aura

Aura

Here is another spring-like new painting. I feel as if I am inviting springtime with these colors that are seeping into my work lately. So bright and cheery for a snow bound winter day. I just want to wrap myself up in them!

Today we are doing a little Valentines crafting.

My little ones had their own special Valentine wish for you...

Here they are sending you finger hearts...

Well, you get the idea!

P.S. I am listed in this sweet Etsy treasury this weekend!

Vapor

A new painting floating in from the studio, just finished this weekend.

Vapor

There is so much movement in this one for me, those bubbles are floating by, the perched butterflies are about to flutter away, the grasses might wave at any moment in the breeze. I became entirely wrapped up in getting each color of the bubbles just the right tones of turquoise and chartreuse, just perfect. It reminds me of warm evenings and summer smells. Ahhhh.

Swept away

Here are a couple of glimpses of what I've been working on.
I have been swept away by some very productive hours in the studio, feeling inspired, the work is flowing and I have time to do it...such a great combination.
It all feels so satisfying.

Another exciting thing in my creative life is that my work has just started to be carried over at Fey Handmade, a fabulous online store that carries a selection of art, clothing, and jewelry curated with a soft, discerning and very feminine aesthetic. I could just surf through their website for hours! If you have not been you should visit, I'm sure you will fall in love or be inspired and swept away by something there.
Happy weekend to you!

flutters

I am headed to the studio this morning to try and capture the little flutters of inspiration that I feel soaring around inside after our vibrant weekend. Talking with so many people recently in person about their response to my work, I am energized with ideas and directions...definitely ready to make some new work.
Do you know that flutter? It is gentle but persistent, a bit thrilling because I never quite know where it will take me. If all goes well, and I am able to grab onto it's wings, I'll be up in my studio painting my heart out.
Thanks so much to Lori for talking about my art yesterday on her inspiring blog Happiness Through Art!

I will write peace on your wings ...

This photo took my breath away.

We are awaiting our own butterfly miracle right here on our deck
. At the park last week we found a HUGE, fat, bright green caterpillar. We put him in a cardboard cracker box to take home, and overnight he made a cocoon inside the box! Jasper is beside himself with excitement about "our butterfly", although who knows what it will actually turn into. There will be serious disappointment if we by chance miss the hatching. Fingers are crossed for all to go well.

I'll keep you updated!

Solstice

Solstice

Just in time for the end of summer I finally have a gorgeous print of my painting Solstice back in stock in my Etsy shop. The colors, especially in the one colored butterfly, just POP. There is only one in stock right now so hurry!
I am in the midst of figuring out what type of scanner/printer combo I am going to buy so that I can make prints of my paintings right here at home. I am working hard researching different options, so if you have had a great experience with a printer or scanner I'd love to hear about it. I'll be making my purchase within the next two weeks...and then...I'll be doing a HUGE shop update!
Can't wait!
